The most efficient configuration of the Colorado is the turbo diesel with the 6-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive (RWD), returning 20 mpg city, 30 highway, 23 combined. The ZR2 comes with the gas V6, 8-speed automatic, and 4-wheel-drive. It returns V8-like fuel economy of 16/18/17.

Trims for the Colorado include Base, WT, LT, Z71, and ZR2. The Base trim includes a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as two USB ports, Bluetooth connectivity, and six speakers. One step up from the base trim is the Work Truck, shortened to WT. The V6 engine is available along with other options, like a rear locking tailgate. The LT is where you start to find additional features, such as a WiFi hotspot, two additional USB ports, HD radio, satellite radio, and a larger 8-inch infotainment touchscreen.
